Honda urges Tsunoda to stay in F1 after IndyCar test cancelled
Honda Racing Corporation president Koji Watanabe says the manufacturer was not involved in the cancellation of Yuki Tsunoda's planned IndyCar test with Meyer Shank Racing, and only learned of it afterwards. Tsunoda lost his Red Bull race seat at the end of 2025 and returned this season when Isack Hadjar was sidelined through injury, but has no realistic route to a full-time seat for 2027.
Watanabe said he spoke with the 26-year-old in the paddock. "You should do what you want to do. It would be best if you could stay in F1, but if that doesn't happen, we can talk again then," he told the Japanese publication as-web.jp, which has supported Tsunoda's career for years.
