FIA takes no action against Herta over Interlagos FP1 incident
The FIA stewards have decided not to take any further action against Cadillac test driver Colton Herta over an alleged red flag infringement during FP1 at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Herta was noted after the session was suspended when Freddie Slater stopped on track, with onboard footage showing his car passing the pit entry as trackside panels showed red.
Herta, deputising for Sergio Perez, was classified 20th in the opening practice session at Interlagos, 0.904 seconds slower than Valtteri Bottas, who finished 15th. Herta has also been linked with a possible Cadillac seat for 2027 amid doubts over Bottas's future, with Mercedes reserve driver Fred Vesti also mentioned as a candidate.
Bottas said his future will be decided in a meeting between Cadillac's bosses in the USA, while Perez has signed an extension with the team until the end of the 2029 season.
