Honda reworks CBR1000RR-R Fireblade for 2027 with new aluminium chassis
Honda has unveiled its CBR1000RR-R Fireblade for Model Year 2027 at EICMA 2026, featuring a new aluminium chassis, a lighter swingarm and an aerodynamic package developed with HRC. The manufacturer has reworked the bike's design and development process, starting with the version intended to compete in the Superbike World Championship and then transferring that know-how to series production.
Project Leader Takazumi Hayashi explained that the team chose to rethink the chassis rather than rely on long-inherited designs. Feedback from Superbike riders Jake Dixon and Somkiat Chantra indicated difficulty through corners with the previous model, which they linked to vibration and stiffness.
Hayashi said the collaboration with Jonathan Rea was limited to the Superbike project and did not extend to the road-going product.
