Supercars 2027 calendar forces SpeedSeries and NextGen NZ date changes

SRO Motorsports Australia's provisional 2027 Shannons SpeedSeries calendar, announced in June, moved Queensland Raceway from its May/June slot to September 17-19. The Supercars Championship calendar confirmed on Thursday has since prompted a change, with the SpeedSeries saying QR will now run one week later, on September 24-26. The Supercars calendar features The Bend 500 on the original weekend, and several key Motorsport Australia personnel work across both series.

The effects have also reached New Zealand. The NextGen NZ Championship had planned its season finale at Hampton Downs for February 26-28, a weekend the Supercars season-opening Sydney Super440 would now take, two weeks after the Bathurst 12 Hour. The finale has been moved to February 19-21, between the two events. NextGen NZ CEO Josie Spillane said the series wanted to avoid a clash with Repco, its shared title sponsor, as well as competitors, broadcasters and supporters.
