Bezzecchi wins Qatar GP as Marquez falls short of title
Marco Bezzecchi won the Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail, finishing 3.083 seconds ahead of Marc Marquez, who was second and could not secure his eighth MotoGP title. Marquez needed to win the race and hope Jorge Martin failed to score, but Martin finished seventh.
Raul Fernandez was third on the Trackhouse Aprilia, 0.531 seconds behind Marquez, while Ai Ogura took fourth on the sister Trackhouse machine. Marquez had moved back into second early in the race after Pedro Acosta dropped behind him with tyre pressure issues.
Bezzecchi's sixth win of the season leaves him 74 points behind Marquez, keeping him in the title hunt. Martin, 14.023 seconds off the lead in seventh, still has a chance over the final two rounds.
