Rivola criticises MotoGP stewards over Marquez-Bezzecchi crash

Source: Crash.net · · added 32 minutes ago

Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola has said his view of the collision between Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi in the Qatar MotoGP sprint has not changed, and he criticised the stewards for not investigating the incident further. The pair clashed at Turn 1 on the fourth lap of Saturday's sprint while battling for the lead, and Bezzecchi crashed out. Marquez stayed on his Ducati and won the sprint, leaving him with a title match point for Sunday's race.

The FIM stewards classed the incident as a racing incident. Rivola said he was disappointed, arguing that Bezzecchi deserved to stay in the fight until the end of the season. He suggested that an incident with such an impact on the championship warranted a deeper analysis, including hearing from both riders, before any penalty or no further action was decided.

Rivola added that the key question should be who could have avoided the crash. Marquez has defended himself, saying he took the racing line he had used all weekend.
