Gonzalez and Guevara lose three grid places in Lusail

Manuel Gonzalez and Izan Guevara have each been handed a three-position grid penalty for Moto2 qualifying at Lusail, dropping them from second and third fastest to fifth and tenth on the grid. The penalties were for entering Turn 1 too slowly and obstructing Dani Munoz as he approached.

Six other riders, Barry Baltus, Ayumu Sasaki, Senna Agius, Zonta van den Goorbergh, Xabi Zurutuza and Adrian Huertas, received the same penalty for the same offence. Luca Lunetta was reprimanded for getting in Joe Roberts' way at Turn 1 during FP2 but received only a warning.

Gonzalez's demotion moves Celestino Vietti onto the front row, alongside pole-sitter Alex Escrig, with Dani Holgado third on the grid.
