Holgado sets Moto2 lap record in Qatar practice

Daniel Holgado set a new Moto2 lap record at Lusail on his Kalex, clocking 1'55.897s to top the practice times ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix. Filip Salac was the closest challenger for American Racing, finishing 0.199s behind.

Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez had led the session earlier, but Izan Guevara, who is 3.5 points behind him in the standings, moved from 20th to third on Pramac Yamaha. Gonzalez was pushed to fourth after a final run was cancelled for exceeding track limits, leaving him behind Guevara on the timesheets.

Celestino Vietti was fifth, with Senna Agius sixth and David Alonso seventh. Collin Veijer dropped to eighth after briefly running third, and Alonso Lopez was ninth, with Barry Baltus completing the top ten.
