Verstappen to start last in Brazil after power unit change
Max Verstappen will start the Brazilian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after Red Bull opted to fit a new power unit. The decision was taken after Friday's running at Interlagos, where the four-time champion had struggled with engine braking and clutch issues.
Speaking to Viaplay, Verstappen said qualifying had effectively lost its relevance for him this weekend, as he was guaranteed to start last regardless of his lap time. He said the team had decided to replace the unit after seeing the problems on Friday, and that the change made sense.
The Dutchman has previously made recovery drives from the back of the field at Interlagos, but said he did not want to repeat the experience every year. He also described Saturday's running as not especially significant for him.
