Sao Paulo GP tyre strategy options as Norris leads grid
Lando Norris took pole at Interlagos for the third year in a row, with Kimi Antonelli alongside him on the front row. Behind them the order is unusually mixed, with Liam Lawson and Nico Hulkenberg on row two and Isack Hadjar and Ollie Bearman on row three, partly because wet-weather conditions in qualifying shuffled the grid.
Max Verstappen, George Russell and both Ferrari drivers have chosen to take tactical engine penalties, which lowers them further down the order. The circuit is considered a good place to take that hit because Interlagos offers plenty of overtaking opportunities.
The race is frequently a multi-stop affair, and strategy is expected to be central, with the weather forecast adding further uncertainty and the top four teams closely matched on performance.
