Norris wins Sao Paulo GP but smashes podium champagne bottle
Lando Norris claimed his third victory of the season at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Interlagos, a wet and wild race in which he beat Max Verstappen by 14.6 seconds and Isack Hadjar by 24.4 seconds. The win was his 14th in Formula 1 and his first since the Netherlands in August.
After the British national anthem and receiving his trophy, Norris attempted his usual podium celebration of spraying champagne by smashing the bottle, but he struck it too hard and it broke on the ground. He took a few moments to compose himself afterwards.
It was the second podium mishap of his career. At the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix he smashed a champagne bottle too close to Verstappen's winner's trophy, knocking it off the top step and breaking it.
