Norris wins Sao Paulo GP as McLaren end Red Bull run

Source: PlanetF1 · · added 11 minutes ago

Lando Norris converted pole position into victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, mastering changing conditions to win ahead of Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. The result ended the reigning champions' five-race run without a podium and was Norris's second consecutive pole-to-win at Interlagos.

Norris lost the lead to Kimi Antonelli at the start but praised his McLaren team, saying he kept calm, avoided errors and had the pace when required. He said it was a very tough race, particularly running slicks in the wet while pushing for the lead.

Verstappen, who started 21st, recovered to finish second but said his car seemed to have sustained damage after an initial strong stint, leaving him unable to make inroads in the closing laps.
