Mercedes win constructors' title as Norris triumphs in Sao Paulo
Mercedes have clinched the Formula 1 constructors' world championship after Lando Norris survived a late downpour to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Norris recovered from losing the lead at the start to take his third victory of the season, his first since the Dutch Grand Prix in August.
George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished fourth and fifth, and the result came a week after Antonelli, aged 20, wrapped up the drivers' crown. Mercedes have scored 652 points from 20 races, their first world title since 2021 and ninth overall. Ferrari remain second, 97 points ahead of third-placed Red Bull, while McLaren are fourth, 17 points behind Red Bull despite Norris's win.
Racing Bulls continue to hold fifth in the constructors' standings, while Alpine failed to score. In the drivers' championship, Max Verstappen's comeback to second place has opened a 17-point gap to third, and Russell has moved ahead of Lewis Hamilton into third by a single point.
