McLaren bring sole upgrade package to São Paulo Grand Prix

Source: RacingNews365 · · added 1 hour ago

McLaren will be the only team bringing new parts to this weekend's São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, according to the FIA's official car submission document. The package includes a new front wing, rear wing, beam wing and floor, and no other constructor has declared an upgrade for round 20.

The front wing is understood to focus on flow conditioning to sharpen airflow to the floor and sidepod bodywork. The revised rear and beam wings are reportedly designed to generate downforce more efficiently, while the floor update targets more stable underfloor airflow to address balance inconsistencies seen in recent rounds.

The front wing concept also reportedly serves as an early track test of aerodynamic ideas for McLaren's 2027 car. Neither the team nor outside analysts have given a lap-time gain for the package, with evaluation centred on downforce efficiency. Lando Norris hopes the upgrade will help McLaren close on Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, after five races without a podium.
