Leclerc acknowledges tension with Hamilton at Ferrari
Charles Leclerc has admitted there has been "tension" between himself and Lewis Hamilton this year, which came to a head at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The pair battled for the lead on the opening lap but ran off the track, handing an advantage to Max Verstappen, who went on to win the race.
Leclerc travelled to Interlagos after the birth of his first child and the two drivers discussed the matter ahead of the Sao Paulo round. Leclerc said the conversation was useful and that he now considers the matter a closed chapter. He described the issue as having grown far larger than it should have.
Hamilton and Leclerc have been closely matched this year, a contrast to last season when Hamilton struggled to adapt to his new team. Leclerc said that while they both want to finish ahead of each other, discussing disagreements helps resolve them.
