Lawson's F1 future uncertain as Williams rumour circulates
A claim made on Canal Plus that Liam Lawson could replace Alex Albon at Williams has been dismissed, according to journalist Thomas Maher, who reported that sources said there was no truth to suggestions Albon would be replaced. Williams had recently confirmed Albon for 2027.
The same broadcast reportedly suggested Racing Bulls had decided to drop Lawson for 2027 in favour of Formula 2 driver Nikola Tsolov. Lawson, who qualified fifth in the wet in Brazil, said he did not know what more he could do to secure his place. The 24-year-old has also driven for Red Bull as Isack Hadjar's injury replacement.
Lawson said the delay in decisions had left few options. "When something like this is pushed all the way to the end, you're left with not really any options," he said, adding that he wanted to race in Formula 1 and felt the team had enjoyed a good year.
