Lawson and Bottas await 2027 F1 seat decisions
Liam Lawson and Valtteri Bottas are both entering the final phase of the Formula 1 season without confirmed seats for 2027. Lawson, who races for Racing Bulls, said in Brazil that he did not know whether his recent strong results would be enough, adding that he did not know what else the team wanted from him. He said the late timing left him with few options and that the uncertainty had dampened the enjoyment of his performances.
Bottas says he is in a different contractual position at Cadillac but is waiting for approval from GM and majority shareholder TWG before anything can be finalised. Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss said there is "absolutely" a scenario in which Bottas remains alongside Sergio Perez, while also praising Colton Herta's strong first practice sessions. Towriss said the team is not in a hurry to decide.
