Bottas expects to keep Cadillac seat despite Herta practice run
Valtteri Bottas says he expects to continue driving for Cadillac in 2027, despite Colton Herta running in practice for the team. Herta is set to drive Sergio Perez's car in the first practice session, a run that should take him to the 40 point threshold needed for a Formula 1 superlicence.
Cadillac has already confirmed Perez will return next year. Perez has said the team faces a difficult choice between Bottas and Herta for the second seat. Bottas, however, said he has heard nothing to suggest otherwise and that the team has told him it does not want to change anything.
Bottas believes Herta's fifth practice appearance for the team is linked to the superlicence, as his second-place IndyCar points from 2024 will expire. He said the team likely wants the licence secured in case it is needed, not necessarily for next season.
