Hamilton reaches 400 F1 starts at Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton will start his 400th Formula 1 race at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, a milestone only bettered by Fernando Alonso, who will make his 445th start at Interlagos. Hamilton has spent 20 continuous seasons at the top level without a break, winning the World Championship seven times and recording 106 wins and 105 poles, the most recent of which came at last weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix.
Speaking at Interlagos, Hamilton said he never expected to reach such a number and still feels young. He described the total as largely irrelevant to him, adding that photographers he had heard of had covered 500 races.
Alonso congratulated his former McLaren team mate, noting that more drivers are likely to join the 400 club as calendars lengthen. New champion Kimi Antonelli, who will make his 44th start in Brazil, praised Hamilton's continued determination and said it could be a good sign for his own longevity.
