Hamilton calls for 'serious talks' at Ferrari after Mexico City clash with Leclerc

Source: Sky Sports · · added 4 hours ago

Lewis Hamilton has called for "serious talks" behind the scenes at Ferrari after his opening-lap incident with team-mate Charles Leclerc at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Leclerc attacked around the outside into Turn 4 but outbraked himself and cut the corner to take the lead, while Hamilton lost out to Max Verstappen after briefly running off track. The stewards handed Leclerc a five-second time penalty, which allowed Verstappen to pass him during the pit stop phase and go on to win. Hamilton finished second and Leclerc fourth.

Team principal Frederic Vasseur said he would discuss the matter with the drivers ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, describing it as a matter of respect. He stressed that the drivers were working for the team, its sponsors and its staff. Hamilton and Leclerc have clashed several times since becoming team-mates at the start of 2025, and Hamilton said he did not know how they would discuss things when they returned to base.
