Hamilton blames Ferrari radio mix-up for Brazil slip
Lewis Hamilton has explained that a miscommunication with the Ferrari pit wall contributed to his costly decision at the 2026 Brazil Grand Prix. Starting from 20th after an engine penalty, he made a strong start and moved into the points before his intermediate rear tyres began to overheat in the drying conditions.
Hamilton was one of the first drivers to switch to slick tyres, but a later message from the team said the rain would stay light. He stayed out on slicks as conditions worsened, believing it was still drizzling, and lost places when he reached the wet first sector. He said the team had otherwise done a good job.
Hamilton still scored points by finishing ninth, behind his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc, who was seventh.
