Albon fastest on Interlagos straight in wet qualifying

Source: F1i.com · · added 3 hours ago

Saturday's qualifying at Interlagos was held in heavy rain, which made the speed trap figures of limited value. Williams driver Alex Albon recorded the highest top speed on the main straight, just ahead of Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson. Lando Norris took pole, his third consecutive year at the circuit, but was among the top ten rather than at the front of the speed rankings.

The grid order was shaken up by wet-weather specialists and by tactical engine penalties for Max Verstappen, George Russell and both Ferrari drivers. Norris and Kimi Antonelli share the front row, with Liam Lawson and Nico Hülkenberg on row two. Forecasts suggest a 60% chance of steady drizzle during the race, which could make timing of tyre changes decisive.
