Solberg reflects on narrow WRC title defeat to Evans

Source: DirtFish · · added 1 hour ago

Oliver Solberg says he still feels the pain of losing the 2026 World Rally Championship title to Elfyn Evans, but believes the championship was decided earlier in the season rather than on the final powerstage in Sardinia. Solberg was ahead on the splits in the winner-takes-all shootout before losing the rear of his GR Yaris Rally1, going off the road and finishing five points behind his Toyota team-mate.

Solberg, who was unveiled as a Toyota Racing driver driving a GR Celica Rally1, said he is proud of his season, which included a win on the Monte Carlo Rally and a strong second half of the year. He admitted he lacked patience in the early rounds, particularly in Croatia, Gran Canaria, Japan and Greece, and said he wanted to win everything rather than taking a step back.
