Cadillac leads Monza 6 Hours at halfway point
The No. 38 Hertz Team JOTA Cadillac V-Series remained in the lead at the halfway point of the 6 Hours of Monza, the FIA World Endurance Championship season finale. Jack Aitken moved the Cadillac into first early in the opening hour, and Sebastien Bourdais continued to lead after taking over from him, although he came under intense pressure from the No. 20 WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 of Sheldon van der Linde as the race reached three hours.
A series of Virtual Safety Cars shaped the race. A collision between Alexander West's McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Darren Leung's BMW M4 GT3 Evo put both cars out, and the entire Hypercar field pitted during the stoppages. The No. 93 Peugeot of Paul di Resta was running fourth at mid-distance, while the No. 51 Ferrari fell to sixth. Van der Linde moved into second after Victor Martins's Alpine ran wide at the Roggia chicane.
In LMGT3, the No. 88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang GT3 EVO led at halfway after being sanctioned early for exceeding maximum power. Penalties continued to reshuffle the class order.
