Pernat says Márquez could leave MotoGP after Sepang win

Source: GPone · · added 5 hours ago

Marc Márquez's extraordinary victory in Malaysia was the focus of comments from Carlo Pernat, who described the Ducati rider as dominant in a championship-deciding style. Pernat said the rider had put almost five seconds on the rest of the field, rejecting suggestions that he had simply managed the race.

Pernat also predicted that Márquez may not remain in the championship for much longer, suggesting he could retire once his current contract ends. He linked this to the new Liberty Media era and the rider's growing role on issues affecting riders, including the new Friday and Saturday sessions and the increased number of starts.

The discussion also touched on Yamaha's withdrawal from Qatar, the riders' concerns and what Pernat sees as the International Federation not making its voice heard enough.
