Michelin details tyre choices for MotoGP's rescheduled Qatar round

Source: GPone · · added 1 hour ago

MotoGP's Qatar Grand Prix has moved from April to November 6–8 because of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, bringing cooler conditions than last year's race, when track temperatures reached 54–56 °C. Ambient temperatures are expected to range between 22 °C and 30 °C, although riders will still face differences between day and night sessions and rising humidity as the evening progresses.

The Lusail International Circuit is a demanding venue for tyres. The night race means the track tends to cool down rather than heat up, and the combination of falling temperatures, humidity and wind-blown sand can affect grip. The 1,068-metre straight and the asphalt's macrotexture also add stress and wear.

Piero Taramasso, head of two-wheel racing at Michelin Motorsport, said dew could form as the evening progresses, further complicating grip. Michelin will bring Soft and Medium front specifications for the event, identical to those used in 2025.
