Marquez extends MotoGP title lead with Sepang win as Martin misses race
Marc Marquez has taken a significant lead in the MotoGP championship after winning the Sepang Grand Prix, his seventh victory of the season and his seventh in the last eleven races. Marquez now holds a 44-point advantage with three Grand Prix races remaining, after Jorge Martin was absent from the event.
Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall'Igna praised Marquez's performance, describing it as a dominant display from start to finish. He said the rear tyre required careful management in the track and temperature conditions, and that Marquez managed it well while pulling away from his rivals.
Alex Marquez finished third, a result Dall'Igna said brought important points for the constructors' championship. Dall'Igna also said the team wished Martin a speedy recovery.
