Jake Dixon to replace Joan Mir at Honda HRC for Qatar MotoGP
Honda HRC has confirmed that Jake Dixon will ride for the factory team in this weekend's Qatar MotoGP, replacing Joan Mir. Dixon, who currently races in WorldSBK for HRC, will partner Luca Marini on RC213V machinery at Lusail. He has made two MotoGP starts previously, both for Petronas Yamaha SRT in 2021, and is yet to score premier-class points.
Mir returned from fatigue-related vision issues at Sepang last weekend but had to withdraw halfway through the Grand Prix when dizziness returned. Dixon thanked Honda HRC for the opportunity and said every rider dreams of racing for the factory team, adding that the team would take the weekend steadily given the time since his last MotoGP ride.
Dixon, a seven-time Moto2 race winner, missed a large part of his rookie WorldSBK season through injury before claiming a best finish of sixth.
