Bagnaia injured in Qatar Sprint crash, race red-flagged
The Qatar MotoGP Sprint was red-flagged after a collision on the opening lap involving Pecco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer. Bagnaia had climbed to third at the start, behind Marco Bezzecchi and team-mate Marc Marquez, before losing positions to Fabio di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez.
Aldeguer attempted to pass Pedro Acosta into the final corner, missed his braking point and struck the side of Bagnaia, sending the double MotoGP champion into a high-side. Bagnaia was conscious but was taken away on a stretcher, which prompted the red flags.
The restart will be over ten laps, one fewer than originally planned. Aldeguer has been handed a double long lap penalty.
