Marquez wins Qatar MotoGP Sprint after Bezzecchi crash
Marc Marquez won the MotoGP Sprint in Qatar, his 25th Sprint victory, and stays in contention for the title ahead of Sunday's grand prix. The reigning champion trailed Marco Bezzecchi at the original start but passed him into turn one on the restart.
Later, Marquez ran wide and Bezzecchi tried to take advantage, but the pair collided and the Italian was left on the ground. Marquez then held off a challenge from Jorge Martin, who lost second place to Fabio di Giannantonio.
Since Sprints were introduced in 2023, Marquez, Martin and Francesco Bagnaia have been the most successful riders, with Bagnaia champion in 2023, Martin in 2024 and Marquez in 2025. Sprint results award half points, with 12 for a win.
