Fortescue confirms contact with Ricciardo over Formula E

Source: RacingNews365 · · added 50 minutes ago

Fortescue Zero Racing has confirmed it made contact with Daniel Ricciardo, although the Australian has given no indication he is ready to return to competitive racing. Team principal Jim Wright said the message received in response was that Ricciardo was not contemplating reviving his racing career at present. Ricciardo last raced at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix and confirmed his full retirement from motor racing in September 2025.

At the team's launch in London, where it unveiled its livery as the first Australian-owned team in Formula E, founder Dr Andrew Forrest downplayed any formal approach, describing Ricciardo as an Aussie mate. The team has instead signed Dan Ticktum, who joins from Cupra Kiro, and Forrest praised the British driver's talent and humility.

The second seat remains unresolved. Taylor Barnard boycotted the launch amid a legal dispute, as his management seeks to void his contract to pursue a move to Fusion Formula E. Fortescue maintains that Barnard remains bound to the team.
