Fortescue Zero reportedly approached Daniel Ricciardo about Formula E seat
Incoming Formula E team Fortescue Zero reportedly made a secret approach to former Formula 1 winner Daniel Ricciardo about a possible seat for its debut campaign, according to Formula E Notebook. The talks were informal and did not progress to formal contract negotiations or an official offer.
The new squad is preparing for the championship's GEN4 era, which brings higher power outputs, all-wheel drive and new battery technology from the 2027 season. Ricciardo left Formula 1 after his final stint with VCARB in 2024 and has since been a Global Ambassador for Ford Racing.
Fortescue Zero has since confirmed an all-British lineup of Taylor Barnard and Dan Ticktum. The team also considered approaching Formula 1 reserve driver Jack Doohan, but no formal talks took place with him either.
