Verstappen, Hamilton and Leclerc face grid penalties in Brazil
Max Verstappen will start the Brazilian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after taking a power unit change penalty. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will also change their internal combustion engines, meaning each receives a 10-place grid penalty. Sergio Perez will take a grid penalty too, for changing multiple power unit parts.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies confirmed Verstappen will use a new Red Bull-Ford power unit this weekend, which puts him over the maximum allocation. Mekies said Verstappen "will start from the back, a position he knows very well here after the last two years", adding that he has made a few miracles before.
Verstappen won the Brazilian Grand Prix from 17th on the grid in 2024, and last year started 19th and finished second.
