Interlagos to host Brazilian Grand Prix until 2035
Formula 1's São Paulo Grand Prix will stay on the calendar until 2035 after a new five-year contract extension was agreed. The announcement was made on Saturday during this weekend's event at Interlagos, where the existing deal had been due to run through 2030.
Interlagos has hosted Brazil's round since 1990 and has featured in Formula 1 since 1973. It is the venue for 42 races, the fifth most of any circuit, and was the scene of Lewis Hamilton's maiden world title in 2008. The event was rebranded as the São Paulo Grand Prix from 2021, after further involvement from the city eased earlier concerns over a possible move to Rio de Janeiro.
Formula 1 said significant investment would be made in the venue, which lacks some of the hospitality and spectator facilities found at other circuits. Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1's president and CEO, described Brazil as an important part of the sport's history and future.
