Vasseur meets Hamilton and Leclerc after Mexico clash
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur says he met Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on Thursday evening at Interlagos, ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, to discuss their first-lap clash in Mexico. The incident, which saw both Ferrari cars run wide at Turn Four while battling for the lead, opened the door for Red Bull's Max Verstappen to win the race.
Vasseur said the talks went well and that the guideline remains the same: the drivers must respect each other and, above all, the team, the brand and the people working at the factory and on track. He acknowledged that the pair may have built up frustration from starting each weekend side by side, and said the team had failed collectively by finishing one-two without winning.
Vasseur said the message was clear and that Ferrari comes first, adding that the team would now turn the page and focus on the next race.
