McLaren debuts updated front wing at Interlagos

Source: F1i.com · · added 1 hour ago

McLaren has introduced a substantial overhaul of its front wing assembly at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, part of a late-season development package for the MCL40. The revised design includes changes to the endplate mounting, the position of the nose attachment and the geometry of the flap elements, with the aim of improving downforce and aerodynamic balance across corners.

Aerodynamic chief Peter Prodromou said the package is intended both to deliver immediate performance gains and to lay groundwork for next season. He confirmed that data gathered in Sao Paulo will guide ongoing research, and that the structural concept of the front wing will remain when the MCL41 makes its debut in 2027.

Lando Norris set the pace in Friday's opening practice session with the updated car, as McLaren targets third place in the Constructors' Championship.
