Perez under investigation after object thrown from Cadillac
Sergio Perez is under investigation by the São Paulo Grand Prix stewards after being seen throwing something out of the cockpit of his Cadillac during a practice session at Interlagos.
The stewards have cited the Mexican driver for an unsafe condition, given the unusual nature of the incident. Late in the hour-long session, Perez was asked over the radio by his race engineer, Carlo Pasetti, what he had thrown from the car. Perez said he did not know, adding that something had come off, which he thought was a small box from where the radio cables are routed.
Perez finished 20th of the 22 drivers on the timesheet, 1.951 seconds off pacesetter Max Verstappen in his Red Bull. The stewards are due to speak to Perez before qualifying.
