Norris takes pole at Interlagos as wet qualifying shuffles grid
Lando Norris secured pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos in a wet qualifying session, with Kimi Antonelli alongside him on the front row. Five drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, George Russell and Charles Leclerc, were already set to take grid penalties tied to new power unit parts, reshuffling the final order.
Qualifying was disrupted by an 84-minute delay in Q1 because the track was not ready for Formula 1 cars. Once running resumed on full wet tyres, drivers found significant time as the water cleared, before conditions improved enough for a switch to intermediates in Q2. Several drivers were eliminated early, including both Alpine cars, Lance Stroll, Valtteri Bottas and Gabriel Bortoleto, who crashed at his home race.
A late red flag ended Q2 after debutant Rafa Camara crashed, also at his home race. Q3 conditions worsened, meaning early laps proved decisive for the top ten.
