Norris claims Sao Paulo pole after rain-hit qualifying
Lando Norris will start from pole position for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, after qualifying was delayed by nearly 90 minutes because of rain. The session was red-flagged shortly after its scheduled 15:00 local start and resumed at 16:26 local time on full wet extreme tyres. Norris set the fastest time of 1:27.470 in Q3, with George Russell second on the road, but Norris will drop to seventh after a grid penalty for fresh engine components.
That penalty promotes Kimi Antonelli to the front row, while Liam Lawson equals his career-best start in third once Russell and Charles Leclerc's penalties are applied. Nico Hulkenberg will start fourth. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen both fell in Q2, but both will start from the back of the grid after engine changes.
