Norris says McLaren gained performance with upgrades in Brazil
Lando Norris believes McLaren "seemed to gain performance" during Friday practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, where the team introduced several upgrades. Norris topped the first practice session, less than one-tenth ahead of Kimi Antonelli, before dropping to second in the second session, two tenths behind the Mercedes driver.
Norris said the team was working through the upgrades to check they were performing as expected, and that the car seemed quicker. He noted that the changes had not greatly altered the driving, though the car remained tricky to handle, and that the upgrades had brought a little lap time.
Norris has previously questioned the handling of the MCL40, saying the car has performance that is difficult to extract at the limit. He said the new upgrades were aimed mainly at adding grip and load, and that the feeling in the car was more positive on Friday.
