Lawson concedes he could have done more in Sao Paulo Q3
Liam Lawson believes he did not make the most of his Q3 effort in wet-weather qualifying in Sao Paulo, despite being set to start third for Sunday's Grand Prix. The Racing Bulls driver impressed through a session disrupted by heavy rain, and he secured fifth place on the grid before grid penalties for several front-runners lifted him up the order.
Lawson said the team was in a good place for the race, but he felt they had not fully capitalised. He had been closing on Fernando Alonso before aborting his final lap when rain returned, leaving him no chance to complete a final push. He also said Racing Bulls might have a better chance of scoring big if the wet conditions continued into the race.
The Kiwi's performance comes as Racing Bulls have yet to announce their 2027 driver line-up. Lawson said he is simply trying to enjoy every time he gets in the car.
