Hamilton wants face-to-face Ferrari talks with Leclerc in Brazil
Lewis Hamilton says he and Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc need to hold face-to-face talks at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix this weekend, following their on-track battle at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton started on pole and finished second, but believed a potential one-two was lost after going side-by-side with Leclerc on the opening lap. Leclerc was handed a penalty for cutting the track, while Hamilton dropped behind Max Verstappen and never recovered the position.
Speaking ahead of the Sao Paulo weekend, Hamilton said the talks had yet to take place, as Leclerc was back home for the birth of his first child and team principal Fred Vasseur had also been at the factory in Europe. Hamilton praised the team's recent progress and said he accepted his responsibility for the team. He added that the intra-team battle, while unwelcome, was better handled in 2026 with the championships already lost.
Hamilton said setting a foundation and rules of engagement would be important if Ferrari are to challenge for the title in 2027. He added that he did not expect everything to be resolved in a single meeting.
