Alonso responds as Hamilton nears 400th F1 race in Sao Paulo

Fernando Alonso has welcomed Lewis Hamilton into the 400-race club ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, where Hamilton will make his 400th Grand Prix entry and start.

Alonso, who has 444 starts from 447 entries, said more drivers would join the club given the longer modern calendars. He congratulated Hamilton on a career with 400 races, all in highly competitive positions, and wished him a good weekend.

Hamilton, who has signed with Ferrari for next season, has said his long-term future is uncertain but that he hopes to race into the early 2030s to fulfil his ambition of competing at the African Grand Prix.
