Harvick says NASCAR may penalise Hocevar after Cindric brake-checks at Martinsville
Kevin Harvick believes NASCAR faces a difficult decision over Carson Hocevar's conduct after repeated brake-checks knocked Austin Cindric out of the Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. Speaking on his weekly show with IndyCar commentator Will Buxton, the former Cup champion said he thinks NASCAR will need to treat the incident in the same way as an intentional right-rear hook.
Harvick noted that brake-checking is usually reserved for rivals and typically leads to a feud, but said he saw little contact from Hocevar's car on video before the repeated brake-checks. He linked the situation to NASCAR's decision earlier this year to soften the front bumpers, which he said drivers have now used as a tactical tool.
Josh Berry had also given Ryan Blaney a brake-check on Sunday, but Hocevar's multiple brake-checks over several laps were the ones that ended Cindric's race.
