Broc Feeney eyes NASCAR Cup, O'Reilly and Truck Series starts for 2027
NASCAR's 2027 calendar has opened options for Supercars drivers, with the San Diego street course no longer clashing with the Darwin Triple Crown and the Circuit of the Americas on March 7 also available. Sonoma and Watkins Glen remain off limits due to conflicts with Townsville and The Bend.
Triple Eight's Broc Feeney is leading Supercars drivers pursuing a Cup Series opportunity. A planned wildcard run with RFK Racing at Sonoma and Watkins Glen this year fell through because of a budget shortfall, although Feeney attended Sonoma with the team in June and has been linked to future Ford opportunities. He said the locked calendar allows planning for next year, and that San Diego is the race that stands out to him.
Funding remains a stumbling block, with a Cup Series weekend requiring more than $500,000, around $250,000 for the O'Reilly Series and approximately $150,000 for the Truck Series. Feeney is also considering the Truck Series at St. Petersburg, which runs on the COTA weekend.
