Di Giannantonio fastest in Qatar MotoGP practice
VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio set the pace at the end of Friday practice at the Qatar Grand Prix, setting a new record lap. He finished 0.142s ahead of championship leader Marc Marquez, giving Ducati the top two places. Di Giannantonio is a known specialist at Lusail, having taken his only MotoGP win so far at the circuit in 2023.
Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) completed the top four. Bezzecchi's Aprilia team-mates Raul Fernandez, Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura all secured automatic Q2 places within the top 10, though Ogura's was a close call. Pedro Acosta was 14th, his KTM team-mates ahead of him, and could face being outqualified by a team-mate for the first time in MotoGP if he fails to advance from Q1.
Jake Dixon made a credible debut as a Honda MotoGP rider, standing in for Joan Mir, finishing 1.987s off the pace and two tenths behind LCR Honda's Diogo Moreira.
