Jacob Abel reviewing his options after busy 2026 IMSA campaign, eyes Indy 500 return in 2027

Jacob Abel spent the 2026 season competing in a wide range of cars, moving well away from the traditional single-seater route. The 25-year-old from Kentucky is now assessing his next steps.

Abel followed his rookie NTT IndyCar Series season in 2025 with Dale Coyne Racing, a campaign built on the foundation of his runner-up finish in the 2024 Indy NXT championship. His 2026 programme began in LMP2 machinery.

According to the report, Abel is targeting a return to the Indianapolis 500 in 2027.
