ECR to take delivery of Dynisma DMG-1 simulator ahead of IR-28 transition

Source: Motorsport.com · · added 1 hour ago

ECR has secured a Dynisma DMG-1 Driver-in-the-Loop simulator, which is set to be delivered to its Indianapolis facility in the first quarter of 2027. The system is intended to support vehicle development, setup work and driver preparation across IndyCar's ovals, street circuits and road courses. It is the first announced team customer for Dynisma in the NTT IndyCar Series.

ECR co-owner and CEO Ed Carpenter said the team had been exploring an in-house simulator for more than a year and that the Dynisma system became the obvious choice ahead of the introduction of the IR-28. The DMG-1 is described as having motion latency of less than 5 ms and a primary motion bandwidth above 50 Hz, allowing engineers and drivers to evaluate setup changes and conduct race-weekend simulations away from the track.

The timing is linked to the introduction of the all-new Dallara IR-28 in 2028, and Alexander Rossi has already completed early validation runs for the new car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sebring International Raceway.
