Vasseur says F1 field is close as Ferrari keeps pace

Source: PlanetF1 · · added 7 hours ago

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has declined to say whether his team now has the best overall package in Formula 1, pointing instead to the variety of drivers who have set the fastest times in practice this season. He said the leading group of six, seven or eight drivers capable of winning is good for the sport in the first season of the new regulations.

Ferrari sits second in the Constructors' Championship, 126 points behind Mercedes, with two race victories this year. Charles Leclerc took second place in Austin after the team introduced upgrades there, while Lewis Hamilton claimed his first pole position with Ferrari in Mexico.

McLaren, 17 points behind Red Bull, has upgrades planned for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix across its front wing, rear wing and floor, according to technical director for aerodynamics Peter Prodromou, who said the aim is to make up ground before the season ends.
