Sainz unconvinced Williams has fixed its 2026 aero concept
Carlos Sainz says he is confident Williams can resolve its readiness and weight problems next year, but he is not yet persuaded the team has solved the aerodynamic concept that hurt its 2026 season. Speaking in Brazil, he named three major failures this year: getting the car ready on time, reducing weight and choosing the correct aerodynamic concept.
Sainz said that development and simulator numbers have not always translated correctly to the track, which leaves him sceptical when he reviews projections for next year. He has previously described the current concept as a failure.
He also said Williams remains too far from the midfield to expect points at the remaining races. In Mexico the team was a second off the midfield in Q2, and he argued that such a gap cannot be recovered because of the circuit's characteristics. He hopes Las Vegas may offer a final chance to score.
